🚀 GoldWave: Production Techniques to Breathe Life into Your Audio Content!
Hello! This is ‘PHconlab’.
In our last session, we explored noise reduction and sound quality improvement methods using GoldWave.
Now, it’s time to enhance the emotional completeness of your high-quality audio content.
This involves naturally producing the beginning and end of sounds and finely adjusting background music volume using GoldWave’s Fade effects and Shape Volume function.
Through this post, master GoldWave’s audio production techniques to further advance your audio production skills!
💡 What You Need to Know Before Applying Effects: Fundamental Principles of Audio Production!
Once noise reduction is complete, you can now apply effects to make your audio sound even better.
GoldWave’s various effects breathe life into audio, but understanding a few basic principles is crucial for natural production.
- Avoid Over-Application: It’s most important to apply audio effects appropriately and naturally, rather than excessively. You should listen carefully and apply effects only to the extent that they sound natural.
- Key Effects: This chapter focuses on the most frequently used effects: Fade In, Fade Out, and Shape Volume.
📉 Fade Out: Making Sound Gradually Disappear
Fade Out is an effect that makes the sound gradually decrease and disappear towards the end of the audio.
It helps background music end smoothly rather than abruptly cutting off, enhancing the completeness of audio content.
-
Application Steps:
- Load the background music file, then select the segment from where you want the sound to decrease to the end.
- Click the triangular icon (Fade Out) to the left of the speaker icon at the top.
- In the window that appears, click ‘OK’ to apply without any further settings.
-
Result Verification:
After applying, you can see the waveform gradually shrinking and the sound disappearing naturally.
If it doesn’t sound natural after one application, try applying it twice consecutively for a better result. -
Tip:
If you want the sound to reduce suddenly, select a short segment.
If you want it to fade out slowly, select a longer segment.

📈 Fade In: Making Sound Gradually Appear at the Beginning
Fade In is an effect that makes the beginning of the audio gradually increase in volume, creating a natural introduction.
It smoothly opens the beginning of your audio content.
-
Application Steps:
- Select the segment from where you want the sound to gradually increase to where it reaches full volume.
- Click the triangular icon (Fade In) to the right of the speaker icon at the top.
- Click ‘OK’ to apply.
-
Result Verification:
The beginning of the audio starts smoothly instead of abruptly.
Applying this twice consecutively can also create a more natural effect. -
Tip:
If you want the sound to appear suddenly, select a short segment.
If you want it to increase slowly, select a longer segment.

📊 Shape Volume: Function for Freely Adjusting Volume
Shape Volume is a powerful function that allows you to freely adjust the volume of audio over time.
While Fade In/Out provides one-directional volume changes, Shape Volume enables more precise and dynamic production by letting you draw a curve to control the sound.
-
Application Steps:
- Select the audio segment to which you want to apply the effect.
- Click the icon with a line below the speaker icon at the top.
- In the window that opens, directly adjust the shape of the green line.
- Click ‘OK’ to apply.
-
Usage Example:
You can create complex volume changes, like in a radio program where background music starts loud, then softens when someone speaks, and then increases again when the music returns.
If the result isn’t what you want after applying, try applying the same settings again for a more satisfying outcome. -
Tip:
Shape Volume can be applied separately to the beginning and end segments to create broadcast-style intro and outro atmospheres.

❓ Which Effect to Use When?: Smart Choices for GoldWave Audio Production!
When it comes to audio effects, it’s crucial to choose and apply them wisely, matching the purpose and mood of your content.
- Fade In/Out: Always apply this when inserting background music to create natural beginnings and endings.
- Shape Volume: Use this to lower music volume during speech (ducking effect) or when dramatic volume changes are needed to enhance the audio content’s immersion.
