🚀 GoldWave: Core Features to Boost Your Audio Editing Efficiency!
Hello! This is ‘PyoHyunHada’.
In our last session, we learned about GoldWave’s file management and saving methods.
Now, it’s time to explore key features that can elevate the quality of your audio content creation and significantly improve your editing speed.
These include GoldWave’s Mix function for inserting background music, efficient bookmarking using Cue Points, and utilizing frequently used shortcuts.
Through this post, perfectly master GoldWave’s advanced editing features to upgrade your audio editing workflow to the next level!
🎶 6.1 Mix Function: Blending Two Sounds: Basics of Background Music Insertion!
When you want to add music or sound effects to your recorded voice, you use GoldWave’s Mix function.
This powerful feature allows you to layer one sound onto another audio file.
It is particularly useful for inserting background music into audiobooks or narration.
Steps to use the Mix function:
- Step 1. Copy Music File: First, open the background music file, select the entire track, and click Copy.
- Step 2. Prepare Voice File: Next, open the voice file where you want to insert the background music, and position the cursor at the desired insertion point.
- Step 3. Click Mix Icon: Click the Mix icon in the top toolbar.
- Step 4. Confirm Settings and Apply: A window will open where you confirm the start time (‘Time where mix will begin’) and adjust the Volume of the music. After previewing with the playback button, click ‘OK’ to apply.

Once the music is inserted, a new waveform will overlap the existing one, and both sounds will play together, adding richness to your audio content.
🔇 6.2 Deleting Unselected Areas and Muting: The Core of Audio Cleaning!
When editing audio, removing unnecessary sounds or noise is essential for improving sound quality.
GoldWave helps you efficiently perform such audio cleaning through its ‘Trim’ and ‘Mute’ functions.
- Trim: Use this when you only want to keep an important section. It’s a function that deletes all parts before and after the selected segment.
- Mute: Effective for removing subtle sounds like breaths or transient noises. It completely silences the selected audio segment.
The Trim function is useful for removing unnecessary beginning/end parts, while the Mute function helps create clean audio by eliminating breaths or momentary noises within the voice track.

📌 6.3 Cue Point: The Bookmark Function: A Shortcut to Editing Efficiency!
Leaving markers at points you want to remember or where edits are needed can significantly speed up your audio editing workflow.
GoldWave’s Cue Point function serves as such a ‘bookmark‘.
- Add Cue Point: Position the playback bar at the desired spot and click the Cue icon to add a marker at that location.
- Navigate Cue Points: Click the ‘Next‘ icon to quickly jump to the next Cue Point, or the ‘Prev‘ icon to go to the previous Cue Point.
- Manage Cue List: Clicking the ‘Cues‘ button allows you to view and modify all your Cue Points. You can also drag a Cue marker with the mouse to change its position, or double-click it to edit its name, color, time, and more.
Actively using Cue Points can maximize your editing efficiency by allowing you to instantly find desired sections even in long audio files.

💾 6.4 Saving and Loading Cue Points: Secure Editing Data Management!
GoldWave’s Cue Points are saved with the recording file, but it’s advisable to save them separately as a backup in case of errors or file corruption.
This is particularly useful for collaborative work or when transferring files to another computer.
- Save Cue Points: Click the ‘Cues‘ button, then select ‘Export‘ to save only the Cue Point information as a separate file.
- Load Cue Points: When working later, select ‘Import‘ to load your saved Cue Point file back into GoldWave.
Utilizing this function allows you to securely manage your Cue Point information, ensuring the continuity of your GoldWave editing.

⚡ 6.5 Organizing Frequently Used Shortcuts: The Secret to High-Speed Audio Editing!
To quickly speed up your audio editing workflow, using shortcuts is extremely effective.
GoldWave provides various default shortcuts, and you can also set your own preferred shortcuts.
