About the Balloon Resonance Game
Use the camera to detect how widely the mouth opens and the microphone to detect actual voice. When the mouth is open enough and voice is detected, the balloon grows until it pops.
Training Benefits
Practice creating an open vocal tract by opening the mouth wide while sustaining voice. This activity supports awareness of oral space, resonance, and continuous phonation rather than simply making a loud sound.
View Detailed Instructions
- Select Start Game to grant camera and microphone permissions.
- Position yourself so your face and mouth are clearly visible to the camera or screen.
- After the game starts, open your mouth wide and make a sound. The balloon grows when your mouth opening is above the target and voice is detected.
- If you only open your mouth without voice, or make a sound without opening your mouth enough, the balloon will not grow well.
- While the balloon grows, avoid excessive jaw or throat tension and notice the feeling of opening the oral space as the sound moves forward.
- You may use sentences, but beginners are encouraged to practice with open vowel sounds such as “ah, yah, uh, yuh, oh, yo, oo, yu, eu, ee” while keeping the mouth shape open.
- If the sound stops midway, open your mouth and make a sound again to continue growing the balloon. When the balloon is large enough, it pops after a short moment and the success message appears.
- The time shown after success is for reference only. Keeping the mouth open and sustaining a stable voice is more important than a fast record.
- After the activity, discuss how the voice changed when the mouth opened and whether the sound felt blocked or free.
